Talk about an experience! Watching the world's largest triathlon is a sight to be seen. The course includes swimming in Lake Michigan, biking on Lake Shore drive and running through the museum campus, all with one of the world's most beautiful city skylines as a backdrop.
Here are a few stats from an NBC news article on the event:
The Chicago event started in 1983 with only 753 participants. The Triathlon now has the largest participation in the world including children and pro triathletes, with more than 10,000 racers.
76 percent of males are over age 30.
Women's participation in this Chicago event is almost half the total number of participants.
It was fun to see ET Athletes Ike and Brian finish the Olympic distance race. Both had solid races and all the hard work put into training paid off. A number of ET Friends were also spotted throughout the morning. Liz, Mandi, Kevin and Kari looked strong on the course. Kim B. enjoyed watching her first triathlon. I wouldn't be surprised to see her do a tri in 2007.

Congrats to both Brian and Ike, you guys are an inspiration to us all. Doing the Chicago Triathlon is an experience that you will never forget, you can't beat the scenery or the crowds. You both deserve a lot of credit for walking across the finish line. #110966 Jeff Schikora schik13@comcast.net on 9/5/2006 8:43:25 PM
